Since 1991, RTVOS has engaged more than 60,000 volunteers from nearly 500 organizations throughout Arizona. Our philanthropic efforts have resulted in $7 million in repairs at over 3,000 homes and 60 nonprofit facilities.
Per Arizona’s Plan for an Aging Population:
By the year 2020, more than 1 in 4 people in Arizona will be over age 60 (20%), up from about 1 in 6 (17%) in 2000.
One in three adults over age 65 will fall each year.
On average the hospitalization cost for a fall injury is $17,500. Simple home modifications to reduce the risk of a fall costs between $150-$300 per house.
The number of Arizonans over age 85 will increase by 102% between 2000 and 2020.
National surveys show that nine out of ten seniors prefer to remain in homes. Because of that, the market for home modifications and other health and supportive services to help older Americans live safely and comfortably will be growing.
Arizona has 541,120 Veterans. 293,470 – 54% are over the age of 60.
With the increasing number of seniors living in Manufactured Home Communities with an income level below 50% median county income, there is a growing number of veterans with need.
Surviving spouses of Veterans are an increasing need.
An increasing number of applications received by Rebuilding Together is from homeowners in Manufactured Homes.
The average income of applications from owners of Manufactured Homes is $17,345.
