More than one third of adults 65 and older fall each year in the United States. Among older adults, falls are the leading cause of injury-related deaths. While a preventable problem, many low-income homeowners cannot afford to invest in needed home modifications that can keep them safe.
Senior Fall Prevention Services (SFPS) offers services to homeowners throughout the year, providing home safety modifications which reduce household hazards and provide greater accessibility in the home. Senior Fall Prevention Services engages volunteer home safety specialists to deliver and install these basic home modifications including: grab bars, shower benches, handheld shower heads, raised toilet seats, wheelchair ramps for steps up to 6 inches, etc.
Help keep your elderly neighbors safe by helping them fill out an application here. You can also volunteer as a home safety specialist, making home modifications once a week in 2 to 3 homes, protecting senior homeowners, as well being a listening ear to many who are lonely.
