Safe at Home
Fall and Fire Prevention Services
Through our Safe at Home program, Rebuilding Together Valley of the Sun provides home assessments and home safety modifications to alleviate critical health, life, and safety issues. Qualified and selected homeowners receive a variety of home repair services specific to their needs and our available resources. These services are free of charge to residents in Maricopa County and the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Modifications may include:

Grab bars

Handheld shower head

Bathtub clamping bar

Night lights
-
Toilet riser and rails
-
Smoke detectors
-
Shower chairs/stools
-
Non-slip shower mats
-
Threshold ramps
Prior to all repairs, a qualified staff member will perform an onsite needs-based assessment to identify potential home repair and maintenance tasks primarily focused on, but not limited to:

Fall Prevention

Accessibility/Mobility
-
Aging In Place
-
Home & Fire Safety
During the assessment staff will evaluate and make recommendations for modifications for:

One toilet area
-
One bathing area
-
One entry area
Clients are encouraged to consider which entry, bath/shower, and toilet would be most ideal for their mobility prior to the assessment. Staff will do their best to target those areas, however there may be limitations which do not allow for modifications to be installed.
Application Information
Applications are accepted throughout the year with projects completed as funds and volunteers become available. Applications are reviewed on a first-come-first-served basis. However, funding is limited and not all qualified applicants may be selected.
Applications that do not include Proof of Income Documentation, or that are outside of our service area will not be considered.
